M1 Bayonet Greek Contract! We managed to obtain a few rare original Greek contract M1 Garand Bayonets, 10" blade and scabbard. After WWII, President Truman started the European Recovery Program, after many European Countries found their industries and infrastructure destroyed by the war. In an effort to resist communism due to the ever growing Soviet influence, our government started the Military Aid Program (MAP), supplying European countries with small arms like the M1 rifle and bayonets. The markings EN-S identifies the manufacturer the ordnance shell and flame indicates that it was a US contract and the letter E the country, in this case Greece in Greek alphabet starts with “E”. Since most tooling was supplied to Greece from US Manufacturers, judging by the cut around the hole for the grip screw, it is believed that tooling used was that of American Fork and Hoe as cuts are identical to the US made AFH bayonet. Now that you have learned about the rich history of this bayonet, your next step is to add one to your collection and what better opportunity than this.
